Kindle Oasis

    Pros

    • The thinnest Kindle ever made, the Oasis will fit into almost any bag you carry. Light as a feather, you can hold it for hours on end without straining your fingers or needing to prop it up on something. Forget about e-reader headaches, the crisp 300ppi display and paper-like no-glare display make mean you'll never strain your eyes. Page flip buttons mean you'll never have to swipe again. 10 bright LED lights behind the screen illuminate it from behind so you can effortlessly read in the dark. Charge it on the go with the charging cover included with your purchase. Includes all those special e-reader features you've come to expect from Kindle, such as highlighting, dictionary look-up, and note taking.

    Cons

    • The page turn buttons make it wider than some others which means that, although it has a 6 inch display, the actual reader is larger than many other 6-inch readers. Still, this lip is helpful because it gives you a good place to grip.

    Bottom Line

    • This is the best e-reader we could find, hands down. There really is no contest if you are willing to pay for this kind of quality.

    Kindle

      Pros

      • An incredibly affordable version of the Kindle e-reader this one stands out because it is almost as good of quality as the upgraded versions (such as the Oasis) but is about one-quarter of the price. Glare will never be a problem with this e-reader. Kindle ensures that even their most cost-effective models have no glare so that your reading experience will mimic the experience of reading a paper book as best as possible. Download hundreds of books onto its internal 4GB of storage and access them whenever you like - with or without internet access.

      Cons

      • The extra cost savings mean that you won't get some of the convenience of the upgraded versions. For instance, while the Oasis is a mere 0.13 inches thick, this heftier model is about as thick as a pencil. A major downside to this one when compared with options like the Oasis is that it requires a wifi internet connection to download your books. No background light means that it will be difficult to read in the dark - much like a regular book.

      Bottom Line

      • If saving money is important to you but you don’t to sacrifice too much in terms of quality you will find the exceptional value of this e-reader well worth the purchase.

      NOOK GlowLight

        Pros

        • It's about time a major book company like Barnes and Noble took a stab at the e-reader industry. The NOOK is a very heavy competitor for best-sellers like the Kindle Oasis and Kindle Paperwhite. It includes a comparable 300dpi display which will never glare, even outdoors. It has a similar 6-inch display and a battery that's built to outlast many others. Built into an aluminum casing, this reader can handle a lot more jostling around than some of the others, making it the perfect companion for a backpacking trip and something you don't need to worry too much about tossing in your bag. Don't know the meaning of a word? Just highlight it and the definition will appear before your eyes.

        Cons

        • Slightly thicker and heavier than some of the other high-priced e-readers this one may cause more strain on your fingers and wrists if you hold it up for long periods of time. Also, it doesn't include special page flip buttons which means that you will have to rely on the

        Bottom Line

        • Its overall performance and comparability to models like the Kindle Oasis makes it a strong contender for many people, especially those who already have a strong connection with the Barnes and Noble brand. Its strong exterior makes it even more appealing to those with busy and hectic lifestyles.

          Pros

          • Capable of a full 300ppi resolution, absolutely glare-free, and with a background light to amplify pages when you read in the dark this is one of our absolute favorite e-reader options. It includes 4 LED lights behind the screen to that you can read your books in the dark without the aid of a flashlight or table lamp.

          Cons

          • Its not quite up to par with the Kindle Oasis and its special page-turn buttons or incredibly lightweight design, but it gets the job done at a third of the price. Where the Oasis has 10 LED lights to light up your

          Bottom Line

          • Perfect for anyone who wants to stick with the Kindle brand and wants something in the middle of a basic e-reader and an advanced option like the Oasis. The Paperwhite packs a lot of great features and functions without an elevated price, only at the cost of a little weight and size.

          Time To Go Paperless!

Top Three Reasons You Should Pitch Paper Books in Favor of an E-Reader:

It’s clear that you’re already thinking about making the plunge into the world of electronic readers and that you just might be ready to start pitching the paper into the recycling bin where is belongs.  BUT, for those of you still sitting on the fence, we want to present a few of our favorite reasons for making the switch.

E-Readers Are Cooler – Come on, this is just true, and you know it!  Now, we aren’t really the type of people to tell you to do something because everyone else is doing it, but the “coolness” of an e-reader goes way beyond its popularity.  Think about it this way – how many paper books do you know that can also give access to fun games and apps?  How many paper books can you highlight and makes notes in only to turn around and ERASE those very notes and highlighter marks?

Saving the Environment is IMPORTANT – We all know this is true, too.  Whether you believe in global warming or not, the simple facts about how we treat our world cannot be ignored.  More trees in the ground and less tress being used for our personal entertainment and education mean more fresh air for us and future generations.  Why waste that natural air filtration system when you can use a simple electronic book to carry hundreds or thousands of stories and education resources inside?

Save Your Eyes – In an effort to move from reading paper books to reading on an electronic device, many people have moved to reading things on their laptops, tablets and phones.  Why buy an e-reader when you can just use those devices, right?  The harsh light coming from cellphones and computers can actually damage your eyes over time, especially if you are reading in low-light conditions (like in bed).  Have you every noticed that your eyes get tired whenever you try to do that?  The lighting built into newer versions of e-readers is designed to mimic the reading experience you receive when reading a paper book under proper lighting.
